CRISIS SUPPORT
622 Crisis issues addressed
When we closed our doors to the general public, we were working with hundreds of people who had significant, multi-layered issues. In the first 3 months of 2020 we had already addressed 976 crisis issues and knew that this support could not stop without putting these individuals and families at risk. We have continued to work through their issues through online and telephone support. We also noticed a significant increase in new people and families using our remote Crisis Support service who have been affected by Covid-19. When we were able to use our new building, we could safely meet with clients in our new centre, and provide socially-distanced face-to-face support.
Oasis have allowed us to help so many of our families over the lockdown period. Without the help of Oasis, we wouldn't have been able to support the number of families we did, who would have otherwise fallen through the net. Oasis have truly been a blessing for many of our families, Thank You. Teacher from Seymour Road Academy

C is a single parent from our school with five children. At the beginning of Lockdown C became extremely ill and was admitted to hospital, where she was in intensive care. During this period when the children were with family members, and afterwards, when C had returned home but was still unwell, The Oasis Centre supported the family with weekly food parcels. This support from Oasis meant the world to C and relieved so much pressure from her about how she was going to be able to get food for her children when she didn't have the strength to leave the house. A case study from a local school
Walt has just been housed after many months living on the streets. We have been able to deliver food parcels to help him survive during Covid-19. Walt says the food parcels have really helped him and are one less thing to worry about as he is getting back on his feet and moving forward with his life.
"From my perspective Oasis has always been a valuable asset for residents and families in Gorton in numerous ways. Oasis have been very helpful and supportive to all the families I have referred to Oasis. Oasis have always been prompt in their response to each family's needs".
