The Oasis Centre is about loving the unloved, never giving up on the forgotten, and welcoming the isolated into a community that cares.
"As we move into our 16th year, it has become clear that we are more than just a project offering a service... we are a community of people determined to bring a culture of positive change to the most disadvantaged and marginalised in East Manchester. Where many of our clients had only experienced rejection, we try to bring acceptance; where many had known only chaos, we try to bring stability; and where many have been told that they are 'stupid', 'not worth the effort' or that they 'will never amount to anything', we come with hope and love! We want to be radical in the way we respond to the crisis of deprivation in our East Manchester communities: not governed or driven by targets and statistics but sold out to see lives transformed now matter how long it takes or how much effort is needed. It is our privilege to have the opportunity to walk alongside people until they are back on their feet, and living strong, healthy and productive lives." (Victoria Armstrong - CEO, The Oasis Centre)
The Oasis Centre is unique in that whilst we do offer clearly targeted support which achieved tangible outputs and outcomes, we are not just about ticking the right boxes, reaching the expected 'targets' or getting the 'right' statistics.
When we consider how long it had taken for the complexity of problems to develop in the lives we support, we are realistic as to how long it is likely to take to see the transformation we desire. The Oasis Centre is about loving the unloved, never giving up on the forgotten, and welcoming the isolated into a community that cares.
